Plaitoon Guide

Chat Basics

How to start a new chat, converse with dialogue and stage directions, and use novel/chat views and viewer settings.

Conversations with characters are the heart of Plaitoon. Learn how to start a new chat, enter dialogue and stage directions, and customize the screen to your taste.

Starting a New Chat

Start a chat from a character

Press Start chat on a character's profile or card to create a chat room.

Choose an opening scenario

If a character comes with multiple opening scenarios, pick one from the dropdown. Each scenario changes the first scene and the mood.

Preview the first message

Before starting the conversation, you can preview the character's first message (prologue). Choose the scenario you like, then continue the conversation.

Chatting with Dialogue and Stage Directions

There are two ways to write a message.

Input styleHow to write itExample
DialogueJust type plain textHow was your day today?
Stage direction (scene description)Wrap it in asterisks (*)*quietly opens the door and steps in*

Use stage directions to describe actions, settings, or atmosphere. Mixing dialogue and stage directions makes scenes far more vivid.

When you send a message, the character's reply appears via streaming, flowing out one character at a time in real time. Wait until the reply is complete before sending your next message.

Novel View and Chat View

You can view the same conversation in two ways.

  • Chat view: A messenger-like feel with speech bubbles going back and forth
  • Novel view: A form that reads like a novel, with dialogue and stage directions flowing together

Switch between them to your taste and adjust your sense of immersion. Scroll up to keep loading past conversation with seamless infinite scroll.

Viewer Settings

You can customize the look and feel of the chat screen yourself.

SettingWhat it adjusts
FontTypeface and size
ColorText and speech-bubble colors
Streaming speedHow fast the reply flows out
OpacityOpacity of the text area over the background
Background musicPlays the ambience set by the character

You can change viewer settings anytime. Setting an eye-friendly font and color plus your preferred streaming speed makes long sessions less tiring.
