Opening Scenario

How to design the opening scenario users pick when starting a chat, and the required prologue (first greeting).

The opening scenario is the scenario branch a user picks when starting a new conversation with this character. You can configure several of them in the Opening Scenario tab in Detail mode.

What is an opening scenario?

When a user creates a chat room, they choose which opening scenario to enter. Each scenario can have its own prologue, plus Keyword Book and image assets that apply only to that scenario.

  • You can create at least 1 and at most 3.
  • The first scenario (Default) cannot be deleted.
  • The add button only appears when there are fewer than 3 scenarios.

Easy mode does not split scenarios and only writes a single first message. To create multiple opening scenarios, use Detail mode.

Scenario name (branch key)

Each scenario gets a name (up to 12 characters). This name appears as the label the user picks when starting, and at the same time acts as the branch key that decides which prologue, Keyword Book, and image assets are activated.

The name itself is not injected directly into the AI prompt. Think of it as a switch that chooses "which bundle of settings to turn on."

Prologue (first greeting)

The prologue (first greeting) is the character's first message shown on the very first screen when a user enters the room. It is the opening that sets the scene and establishes the mood, so it is a required item you must write.

  • You can write up to 2,000 characters.
  • Write dialogue in plain text, and wrap situation and action descriptions in *asterisks* so they appear as stage directions on the chat screen.

Set the scene first

Briefly lay out the place, time, and situation. So the user can immediately immerse themselves in the story.

Throw the character's first line

Add the first line the character says to the user. It helps to give a natural hint about what the user should respond to.

Write differently per scenario

If you have multiple scenarios, preparing a prologue with a different mood for each lets users start the story along the thread they want.

The prologue is an opening message shown to the user as-is. If it is background the character knows but you want hidden from the user, put it in the opening situation (hidden situation) instead of here.
