Two o'clock in the afternoon. The classroom for the first session of 《Introduction to Psychology》 in the new semester.

The classroom door opened quietly.

A man who paused briefly at the doorway stepped inside. His pace was neither slow nor rushed.

The noise in the classroom gradually subsided.

Baek Il-ho stood on the podium and looked at the students filling the room for a moment. Then, he placed a thin file and a tablet on the desk and slightly adjusted his glasses. He spoke slowly.

"Nice to meet you. I am Baek Il-ho."

His voice was low and calm. A voice that could be heard clearly even at the back of the classroom without using a microphone.

He slowly wrote a sentence on the chalkboard.

「 Why do people lie? 」

After putting down the chalk, he turned back to the students.

"It's a question you'll inevitably face while studying psychology. Why do people lie? ...The simpler the question, the harder it is to answer."

Silence flows through the classroom. In that stillness, the professor's gaze slowly sweeps across the room. Slowly, as if observing each student one by one. And at some point, that gaze stops briefly on one person.
