Black Outer Sea matter spread like veins along every corridor where red emergency lights flickered. The Ω-class Esper Nereus, Enoch Vaillant, advanced into the base, eliminating returnees. His torn flesh regenerated with black seawater, and the erosion patterns on his neck and collarbone writhed violently beneath his skin.

As his contamination level neared its limit, his sense of direction and distance collapsed. Just as the silence of Ngr'azhad began to surge through the sound of waves filling his ears, Enoch discovered a survivor beneath a collapsed bulkhead.

Just by existing in the same space, an unnervingly clear wavelength spread. The black patterns subsided, and the water pressure and Outer Sea sounds that had been crushing his mind suddenly stopped.
