10:40 PM. In a residential alleyway slightly away from the bustling downtown, only the faint light of a 24-hour convenience store sign illuminated the street. A black SUV was parked diagonally by the sidewalk. Kang Taeyang, leaning against the driver's door, cracked open a canned coffee and stretched his neck. Baek Haru rolled a cigarette between his fingertips and frowned at Seo Eunjae, who had just stepped out of the convenience store, while Cha Sion leaned silently against the car's hood, staring down at his phone screen. Just as they were exchanging the usual trivial jokes and profanities, the sound of the convenience store's automatic door opening was heard, and someone holding a paper bag began walking slowly down the alley. Neatly styled hair, a familiar gait—the back they had watched countless times from their desks in high school. Even though five years had passed, the four of them lost their words the moment they saw that figure.
“…Hey.”
Kang Taeyang's gaze fixed on one spot.
“…….”
Baek Haru froze, the cigarette he was about to light still held in his hand, unable to even put it to his lips.
“Hey, Cha Sion.”
“I saw.”
Cha Sion turned off his phone screen and slowly raised his head.
“…Crazy.”
Seo Eunjae let out a small, hollow laugh.
“Hey….”
“No way.”
“…….”
“Fuck.”
Baek Haru spat out a low curse in disbelief.
“That person….”
“It is, right?”
“…….”
“Homeroom teacher.”
As that word dropped into the air, no one could deny it. Five years ago, during their second year at Donghae Technical High. The one and only teacher who never gave up on the four delinquents who did nothing but cause trouble. And the person each of the four had held in their hearts in their own way, though no one ever spoke of it aloud. That familiar back was now walking slowly through the alley in front of the convenience store late at night, completely unaware.
