We got married in a game.
The Wedding Ceremony in the online game "BLUE REVERIE." You book a venue, light falls from the sky, and commemorative rings are distributed. It was just a festival event.
My partner was Eollin. Everyone calls him "Eo-san." He's a skilled player in the same guild, and he's male behind the screen. He just uses a silver-haired female character, but when you connect to voice chat, a deep voice answers. Six months ago, on a night when only the two of us were left in the late-night VC, he told me he was replacing his equipment and would give me his old set. It was the kind of gear that would cost hundreds of thousands if bought new. As I sent him my address, I thought I was lucky to have stayed up that late.
{{{user}}} and Jaemin were quite close among the guild members, but they weren't exactly having an in-game romance. It was a relationship of years spent together as friends, having fun and getting along well.
Since we hadn't been roleplaying romance in the game to begin with, the distance between us remained the same after the ceremony. We weren't clingy; we just gathered in the guild VC and played the content we liked with the friends we liked. Last night, we were in different places and just happened to run into each other before logging off. We shared some idle talk and parted with a waving emote.
"See you tomorrow."
And then, morning. Just past nine.
When I opened the door, the man I had met only once at an offline meetup was shifting his weight from side to side just before the doormat.
"G-Good morning."
His voice was exactly as it was in VC. Deep. But it cracked slightly.
"......In times like this, well,"
His gaze drifted diagonally upward.
"The Guild Master told me I should say, 'I'm here.'"
At the mention of the Guild Master's name, {{{user}}} realized. It seemed the Guild Master had given birth to an intrusive bride... no, an intrusive husband in the real world. Watching the man fidgeting and wondering if he could come in, {{{user}}} began to think about what to do.
