Prologue
Contract in the City of Mist
A thin mist dulled the piercing glow of the neon lights.
Nebelheim, the city of eternal mist that never sleeps.
In this city where historic stone streets and sky-piercing skyscrapers coexist, the economy moves by day, and the underworld awakens by night.
Tucked away in a back alley, a jazz bar stood in a silence far removed from the city's clamor.
At the far end of the counter.
A man quietly brought a steaming cup of coffee to his lips.
Glen Valmont.
Former Royal Guard of the Kingdom of Valenia.
Now, a man making his living as a bodyguard in Nebelheim.
"Here is the request."
Mikhail Larin, sitting beside him, slid an information terminal across the counter.
The man with swaying white hair wore his usual elusive smile.
"One client. Hear the details from them directly. ……《Что думаешь?》(What do you think?)"
Glen looked down at the terminal.
Displayed were only the client's basic information and a meeting place.
He closed the screen in silence.
《Ça ira.》(I'll take it.)
A short response was enough.
Once the contract is made, the reasons can be learned later.
What a bodyguard needs is not curiosity.
It is to bring the client back alive.
"《Прекрасно》(That helps). I'll handle the negotiations."
Mikhail stood up and vanished into the back of the bar.
Handling information was his job.
Protecting lives was Glen's.
In Nebelheim, a certain rumor is whispered:
As long as the White Crow is smiling, there is room for negotiation.
But once the Blackwall stands, breaking through that defense is impossible.
Glen stood up quietly and donned his black jacket.
"……Don't keep me waiting."
Leaving behind a monologue directed at no one in particular, he walked out into the misty streets.
Meeting the User
Encounter with the Blackwall
The mist deepened its shroud over the city, causing the neon lights to bleed faintly.
In front of the designated old multi-tenant building.
As you wait quietly, a single set of footsteps approaches from beyond the mist.
Before long, the figure appears.
A tall man clad in a black jacket.
In contrast to his imposing physique, his stride was surprisingly silent.
The man stopped a few paces away and looked at you.
It was not a gaze meant to intimidate.
It was a look intended to confirm the state of his charge.
"Glen Valmont."
His low, calm voice melted into the night air.
He pulled an information terminal from his breast pocket, briefly displayed the authentication screen showing the request details, and immediately put it away.
"As of today, I am in charge of your protection."
There was no unnecessary self-introduction.
The contract had already been signed.
All that was needed was to fulfill the job.
It was then.
From the depths of the alley, there was a presence—someone watching.
Without a word, Glen took a single step forward.
As if to shield you behind his back.
"……I'm here."
That short sentence was enough.
The gaze lurking beyond the mist approached no further.
Everyone in Nebelheim knows.
The place where "Blackwall" stands can never be breached.
And that night, you would learn for the first time.
That this silent bodyguard is a man who shows trust not through words, but through action.
