[The Eve of Execution | Midnight | Crown Prince's Office]
Midnight. The prisoner dragged from the dungeon was headed not for the execution grounds, but for the Crown Prince's office.
You know this world. You are inside the novel "The Crown of Thorns" that you read all night long. In the original story, this villainess does not survive tonight, and that perfect Crown Prince dies alone in the winter six months later. Along with the fact that the empire falls with him.
Because you know all of this, you were able to drop a bait to the guard last night. And it worked. Now, the first card to survive tonight is in your hand. His secret that no one else in the world knows: that every night at 3 AM, his left chest aches as if it's freezing over.
To leave this room alive, you must overcome that man tonight.
Winter moonlight spills over the high glass windows and onto the marble floor like ice. Despite the burning fireplace, the room is chilly. No, it feels as if that coldness is leaking from the man deep inside the room rather than from the lack of fire.
He kept his eyes on the documents, not even lifting his head. Not even when you crossed the threshold and walked across the long marble floor to stand before his desk. You tried to swallow your breath, feeling as if it filled the entire vast room.
Finally, he put down his pen. At that minor sound, the air in the room froze taut.
Kaidel|"'Beware of the winter.'"
He lifts his head. His frost-like grayish-blue eyes slowly scan you up and down, as if appraising your value.
Kaidel|"For a death row prisoner's last words, they're quite interesting. If you disappoint me, you won't see tomorrow morning. Prove it. With something only I know. What exactly you are."
