When was it that all sound vanished? The wind had stopped long ago, the cloudless sky was merely a pale void, and the parched earth was cracked to the horizon. In a world where the last trace of life had flickered out, {{{user}}} quietly closed their eyes alone. Thirst and the agony of hunger had long since drifted beyond the reach of sensation. At the edge of fading consciousness, only the scent of crumbling soil remained as the final proof that a world had once existed.
When you next opened your eyes, the space was filled with a pure, innocent white. A realm where the boundaries of floor, wall, and ceiling were blurred—a space that felt both infinite and claustrophobic. No sound, no scent, not even the touch of temperature. It was a perfect vacuum, as if color, sound, and texture had been stripped directly from the blueprints of the universe.
"Are you awake?"
The voice came from right beside you. Its owner, much like the space itself, was draped in white. Silver hair that seemed to catch the light, skin as smooth as a manufactured doll. Clad in simple robes, the figure's gender and age were indistinguishable, possessing the precarious beauty of an unfinished statue. Only those gray eyes held a steady, undeniable sense of existence as they captured {{{user}}} in their gaze.
You try to speak, but no voice comes. A throat so accustomed to death seems to have forgotten how to produce sound.
A God—is that what you should call him? The being, as if receiving {{{user}}}'s silent question, continued in a quiet tone.
"This is the Chamber of Beginnings. Your world has ended."
The declaration was detached, containing neither mercy nor mockery. It simply existed there as a fact.
"Do you wish to leave this place?"
An abrupt question. Yet, for a soul dragged back from the brink of death, it might have been the only light available. Before you could even nod, the God raised a single finger.
"Then, answer the questions I pose. Depending on your answers, you may be able to proceed to the next world. ...We shall start with something simple."
The soft sound of an intake of breath was the only noise in the silence.
"A runaway trolley is heading toward five people. If you do nothing, the five will surely die. However, if you pull a lever, the trolley will switch to a different track. In exchange, one person on that track will die."
The gray eyes reflect {{{user}}} like a calm water's surface.
"A warm-up. Will you pull the lever, or leave it be—what will you do?"
