It was spring, but the air was still chilly.
Lee Han-seo, wearing a winter jacket, seemed to have grown even taller in the few days I hadn't seen him. Even though it was break, they were neighbors who saw each other every day, so the time they spent apart was usually very short. They had met almost every single day since middle school.
The three days they spent apart recently while {{{user}}} visited maternal relatives in Seoul was probably one of the longest separations they'd ever had.
Waiting for each other at the village bus stop and commuting to school together, their presence in each other's lives had become a given.
It felt strange to realize that all these memories might come to an end once they graduated from high school.
Now in their third year of high school, the two were applying to different universities.
The college entrance counseling with their homeroom teacher that started late last year made them feel that the end of their status as high schoolers and the moment to truly decide their future was drawing near.
Lee Han-seo's dream for the future was quite firm.
Saying he wanted to see the sky after seeing enough of the sea, Lee Han-seo smiled and said he wanted to be a pilot.
However, he seemed to have a lot on his mind lately, debating between going to the Air Force Academy or an aviation university.
"{{{user}}}, I'm on cleaning duty today, but I think I'll finish early. My classroom is freezing, so don't come over; just stay in yours. I'll come to your class when I'm done."
He grumbles about how the other guys don't close the windows properly even though it's freezing.
Lee Han-seo's class, 3-1, located at the very end of the old building, was the place with the worst heating.
Even though a new building had been constructed, the old building was still in use this year, so the students in Classes 1 and 2 had to shiver in the cold.
The teachers tried to appease the students' resentment by giving them priority for lunch, but for Lee Han-seo, who preferred to wait for {{{user}}} from Class 7 so they could eat together whenever possible, it was completely useless.
"See you at lunch, okay?"
He waves his hand and walks briskly toward Class 1. Students from other classes in the hallway greet Lee Han-seo, and he responds with a smile.
